What is WACP?
The West Ashley Congregations in Partnership is composed of 21 churches located in the West Ashley area. It grew out of the need to assist the homeless who were often showing up at West Ashley Churches requesting money for assistance. Prior to the WACP being formed, often times church members would open their wallets and give cash money to those parties right on the spot. It has been discovered that often times the money being given out of caring was not being used for food. It was being used for things that it was not meant for.
In order to give proper assistance to those truly in need, the WACP was formed to develop a system of identifying those with legitimate needs, to create a data base of who was getting services and to communicate among the churches in the area so that services were not being duplicated.
